'Red Dragon'

Weeping Red Japanese Maple

Zones 5-9

‘Red Dragon’ is a very hardy weeping Red Japanese maple. This Japanese maple cultivar is known in the trade to hold its red color extremely well even late in hot summers. The Red Dragon Japanese Maple is a deep maroon to burgundy throughout the summer and turns to a bright red in the fall. It has a beautiful dissected leaf with predominant bottom lobes that give it is dragon horns look. ‘Red Dragon’ stays relatively small at around 4-5 feet in 10 years. This Japanese maple tree performs well in sun or shade.  The Red Dragon Japanese Maple is an excellent tree for a potted container on a porch or patio and brings amazing color to any yard it is planted in.

Unbelievable tree for the money

I now have 4 (for now, lol) maples from Mr Maple, and they are all absolutely beautiful. They are also noticably healthier than maples I have bought from another local japanese maple nursery. Mr Maple's quality is second to none.

I picked up this 1 gallon low graft red dragon at the open house on Memorial Day...wonderful event, by the way. Can't wait to come back for the next one...This tree was not something I planned to buy, but it seemed to call to me to take it home. I did, and could not be happier. Wonderful shape, excited to watch this tree grow!

Red Dragon

Very Pleased with my purchase of a 1 Gal. Dwarf Red Maple. It arrived in excellent condition and I am following the initial care suggestions (currently checking moisture content every couple days and allowing it to rest in the shade from its trip). Plan to place in a container on the patio - yet to settle on timing as Texas trmps and humidity a big factor.

The quintessential red laceleaf

I bought one of these from a local nursery when I was a Japanese maple neophyte and killed it, unfortunately, with poor soil and a sprinkler that would hit the leaves in the hottest part of the day. The picture below is the one I bought from Mr. Maple to replace it. A most excellent specimen.

I was impressed with all the trees I bought. I definitely will be buying more in the near future. Thanks
