'Orange Dream' is a beautiful Japanese maple with exceptional color. The leaves of 'Orange Dream' leaf out in the early spring with bright golden leaves that are outlined in bright orange red. This color contrast is striking. 'Orange Dream' is excellent as a focal point planting or when planted in combination with deep maroon Japanese maples. 'Orange Dream' can also be used to brighten dark spots in the garden. In hotter climates, we recommend giving 'Orange Dream' protection from the hot afternoon sun for best color. Fall colors are bright oranges to red.
'Orange Dream' is an Italian introduction from Gilardelli Nursery. 'Orange Dream' may reach 10 ft in 15 years becoming denser and more shrub-like with time.

I ordered this tree late 2020 and received it on January 2nd. It was a one gallon and was still dormant. I was very impressed with the color when it leafed out for the first time in my garden. The attached photo is from May of 2024. I am in California zone 10a. Once I planted it in the ground a few years back it really took off in size. It is on the east side of the house and gets some afternoon sun, and by the fall there's some leaf scorch. The tree greatly benefits from mulch and as shown in the photo, I use geranium to help protect the surrounding soil. Gotta keep those roots cool. Again, a very impressive tree.
Good sized healthy trees, carefully packed & all growing very well, I had never grown maples & Mr. Maple customer service is great, Over this year I now have developed 3 separate maple gardens. I size up their pot for a while to adjust to my Texas heat & by the time I have a plan for their location they are ready to just set in the hole. I combine textures & colors with the tallest most contrasting in the middle. They are just so beautiful. I also added 3 of Mr. Maples' dwarf male yellow gingko trees in one garden for some added interest & texture. Those leaves are so interesting. Now I'm adding rocks and hostas etc. Mr. Maple has a great presentation of Ryusen used as fountains. I am training one to arch over this very cool narrow upright rock, Everyone loves it, Thanks for all the examples Mr. Maple!!
The Orange Dream I received was roughly 5 feet tall with some good bottom branching as well. Has survived the winter and is all budded up. Cannot wait to see how it looks and does this spring.
