Hamamelis virginiana 'Little Prospect'
Pretty Golden Flowering Variegated Witch Hazel

Zones 3-8

'Little Prospect' is perhaps one of the most striking witch hazels, not just sought after for because of the blooms, but because of the foliage. 'Little Prospect' has thick yellow margins of variegation on a dark green leaf. The variegation provides great contrast on the leaves. In the fall, yellow blooms cover the branches. Found by our friend, Robert Wilkinson, as a chance sport, this witch hazel appears fairly hardy, extremely stable, and exceptionally heat tolerant. 'Little Prospect' has an overall pyramidal form with dense branching.  We expect 'Little Prospect' to reach 6-8 ft in height and width in 10 years.

Limited Quantities Available !! As we have over a thousand cultivars of woody ornamentals, we often do not have many of each cultivar. We recommend that you buy the woody ornamentals you want immediately as we often sell out of certain selections.

Little Prospect

This is my second little prospect. I love the varigated leaves and the blossoms in the winter are very showy. I ordered an X-Large gallon and it is almost 4 feet tall. It is a great addition to my garden. You can’t go wrong with Mr. Maple

fabulous colorful shrub

Mine is about 4 or so years old now and about 4.5 ft. tall with a somewhat narrow upright tight and tidy form, planted in full sun and has unbelievable color. Flowers early winter but kind of blends in with the winter branches. Mine requires some extra moisture in the hottest days of summer or the leaves will burn a little.
