'Yellow Tea'

'Yellow Tea’ is a fun tea camellia that throws unusual yellow variegation across some of the otherwise dark green leaves on the tea camellia. The yellow splash is typically displayed on new growth of older plants. Young plants may not always display variegation, however, I have been told that ‘Yellow Tea’ does not revert. As the mature matures, variegation will become present. In the fall, white camellia blooms make this variegated plant a must have in the garden. ‘Yellow Tea’ may reach 5-6 ft in height and width in 10 years.

‘Yellow Tea’ was imported from Japan by our good friend Ted Stephens. At Shibamichi Nursery, Ted was able to get cuttings from Mr Akira Shibamichi, who is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. When we met him on our last trip to Japan he was so warm and welcoming.  'Yellow Tea' will a plant you will enjoy as a tea camellia, a variegated plant, and something you don't see very often.
