This teeny-tiny selection is a miniature, globe-shaped version of its legendary parent, featuring tightly packed green foliage that creates a dense, richly textured appearance. Bright pink new growth adds a beautiful splash of color, while golden-red fall foliage provides a striking seasonal display. With very few plants in circulation in the United States, ‘Lion Cub’ is an exciting find for collectors and Japanese maple enthusiasts seeking something genuinely uncommon. Its naturally compact, rounded growth habit and fascinating origins make it a standout addition to specialty maple collections, rock gardens, and other spaces where a small, distinctive tree is desired.

This listing is for Acer palmatum ‘Lion Cub’, the witch’s broom selection discovered by Dave Helms on ‘Shishigashira’.
