'Goldspot' performs best in part shade with protection from intense afternoon sun and prefers well-drained, acidic soils rich in organic matter.\u003c\/h4\u003e\n\u003ch4\u003eThis cultivar was discovered in 1919 as a branch sport by Vancouver, British Columbia nurseryman Henry Eddie and was originally introduced as 'Eddiei' before being renamed 'Goldspot' for marketing purposes. Henry Eddie was also responsible for introducing the well-known hybrid dogwood 'Eddie's White Wonder,' a cross between Cornus florida and Cornus nuttallii.
