Acer palmatum 'Baldsmith'
'Baldsmith' is an exceptional dissectum that grows low and has a unique appearance. During early spring, the tree displays a beautiful bright pink color with yellow-green undertones that give it a soft, elegant look. As the season progresses, the foliage turns into a lush green, highlighted by pink-to-red new growth. During fall, the tree's colors range from deep yellows to orange. This cultivar has a low umbrella-like shape that grows very even and dense. It typically reaches 5 feet by 5 ½ feet wide in 15 years. 'Baldsmith' is an eye-catcher and can be used as a featured centerpiece planting or container specimen. It pairs exceptionally well with a deep red or green dissectum. 'Baldsmith' thrives in Zones 5 through 9.
