Acer palmatum 'Sir Damon' | Cultivar Spotlight

Acer palmatum 'Sir Damon'

'Sir Damon' is an exceptional new coral bark selection with vibrant red new growth and deep red, older growth that stands out from the usual "coral" color of the typical Japanese maple. The green leaves become a beautiful contrast to the red bark in the warmer months, and in the fall 'Sir Damon' turns to a bright yellow. Discovered at Crispin's Creations Nursery and named after Crispin's son, Damon, 'Sir Damon' is best grown in partial sunlight to bring out the vibrant colors of its bark. This variety typically reaches 8-10 ft in height over 15 years and is suitable for growing in zones 6 through 9.
