Acer palmatum 'Kurenai jishi'
Kurenai jishi, commonly known as "the red Shishigashira," is a captivating dwarf Japanese maple. In early spring, its mid-sized twisted leaves leaf out in a deep full red with brighter colored new growth, making it stand out in any garden. The leaves on this red lion Japanese maple are tightly compact and dense, surrounding a thick stem and a large trunk, giving it a dignified appearance. During summer, the leaves may turn green-red to green, while in fall, they exhibit bright oranges to red. In ten years, Kurenai jishi can reach a height of about 4.5 ft tall by 3 ft wide. This selection is perfect for rock gardens, fairy gardens, conifer beds, containers, or small spaces in the landscape, thriving in Zones 5 through 9. Named by the top maple expert in Japan, Masayoshi Yano, 'Kurenai jishi' brings the essence of Japan to your garden like no other Japanese maple.

I bought one of these 2 years ago from you. And its struggling. I do live in Katy Texas which is very hot and humid in the summers, so I have put it in a ceramic pot on a stand in the corner of my patio under an overhang. It does not get that strong direct sunlight.
Its a very slow grower and currently has brown crispy tips on the end of the leaves.
I need your help. This tree may be in too hot and humid of an environment.
Thanks
Barb Springer
