The Oridono Nishiki, a unique and ancient Japanese maple, is a sight to behold throughout the year. During early spring and late fall, its pink and white variegated leaves make for a striking display against a green canvas. This maple's coloration is so distinct that every photograph taken of it is unique. In autumn, the Oridono Nishiki turns a beautiful shade of gold before transforming into a bright red or deep maroon. At maturity, it reaches up to 12 ft and prefers protection from the afternoon sun. It never truly reverts, and pruning in the early spring can enhance its coloration. It's a perfect choice for Zones 5-9 gardens.
