Acer palmatum 'Royle' is a beautiful cultivar of the Japanese Maple. The deeply lobed leaves display a stunning red to purple color in the spring and summer, transitioning to brilliant shades of orange and red in the fall. This small to medium-sized tree typically reaches a height of 10-15 ft and a spread of about 10-12 ft over 10 years. 'Royle', sometimes misspelled as 'Royal' was found by our good friend, Billy Schwartz, as a witches broom mutation on red Japanese maple in Neshanic Station, NJ in the center of town.
