Acer laevigatum ‘Hóng Lóng'
Rare "Red Dragon” Chinese Evergreen Maple

Zones 7-10

Hóng Lóng' is the most amazing evergreen maple selection. Hóng Lóng' was a wild collected by Mark Weathington of the JC Raulston Arboretum. Unlike the species, the new growth on Hóng Lóng' is a deep maroon-red to purple-red, later maturing to green. The bark is a deep purple red. Hóng Lóng' does not like full sun. Give protection from the hot afternoon sun for this tree to thrive. Hóng Lóng' may reach 8-10 ft in 10 years. Hóng Lóng' translates as “Red Dragon”.

Limited Quantities Available !! As we have over a thousand cultivars of Japanese maples, we often do not have many of each cultivar. We recommend that you buy the Japanese maples you want immediately as we often sell out of certain selections.

Nice size

The Acer was a good size. Hoping for some red leaves next year.

Another Box Load of Joy!

I wish you could see how wonderfully-healthy the 3 Japanese Maples that arrived yesterday are!

Acer japonicum’Emmets Pumpkin’ (in a 2 gallon), A. laevigatum ‘Hong Long’ & A. palmatum Shin deshojo (both in 1 gallons) all professionally packaged with obvious care, and attention to detail,
were quite large, and appeared as though they were all boxed earlier that day!

These 3 trees were ordered over the span weeks, 1 each, from 2 different 10 at 10 sales, and the third from a Limited Availability Sale. In order to save on shipping charges, I’d requested that the first 2 trees be held at the Nursery, for later shipping, until I could order enough trees to fill the box.

My repeated correspondences, with the equally professional, and happily-responsive office staff (as always) made sure my combined orders arrived, when I requested them, and without any issue.

In the past year I’ve purchased 25 Japanese Maples from MrMaple, while not every transaction was as perfect as this last one (though the vast majority have been) in the rare hiccup, the conscientious “Ladies of the Office” amicably and expertly resolved any issue!

My tail is wagging with happiness!
