'Iijima sunago' is a classic upright Japanese maple with amazing colors. This cultivar, which dates back to the 1800's in Japan, has stood the test of time. 'Iijima sunago' leafs out with some amazing colors of pink-red, maturing to mauve brick red with an emerald cast. Later a yellow green with a brick red to bronze cast. Fall color starts out as bright yellow, later becoming infused with orange. The colors on this tree are outstanding. This classic Japanese maple makes an excellent pair with 'Bloodgood', 'Crimson Queen', or 'Osakazuki' as it will have contrasting fall colors.  'Iijima sunago' may reach 10-12 ft in height in 10 years.
