Acer palmatum Red Panda™ is a compact dwarf selection in the Mikawa Family Collection. For us in WNC, we have had color in late spring to early summer. Secondary flushes on Red Panda™ during the summer has orange-red new growth. Red Panda™ may reach 3-4 ft in height and width in 10 years. Fall color onRed Panda™ is a bright fiery red.

The elusive Red Panda

Beautiful little tree. Planted mine directly in the ground. Holding up very well in 8 hours of sun.

Acer Palmatum Red Panda

Hello,
I was pleasantly surprised I got a Red Panda off of the 10@10. The plant arrived a couple of days later and was an excellent size and shape. I haven’t planted it yet but am looking forward to seeing it color up this fall. I have heard the Spring colors are awesome.
Thanks again to Mr Maple for providing us the opportunity to collect some rare cultivars.

Acer Palmatum Red Panda

I was lucky enough to get a Red Panda on the 10 @ 10 on Tuesday. It arrived today in great condition. The Panda is a good size plant with excellent branching. New summer growth is an orange-red. I feel very fortunate to get this one to add to my collection. The Nichols brothers are a great source for Japanese Maples and other hard to find plants.
