Acer palmatum 'Taimen nishiki'
Variegated Japanese Maple
Zones 5-9
'Taimen nishiki' is one of the rarest trees to find truly variegated. All 1 gallons listed display good variegation. 'Taimen nishiki' is a selection from 1882 in Japan that is extremely rare in cultivation because it does revert fairly often. Spring color on 'Taimen nishiki' is a bright fiery red over top of dark maroon. The variegation turns to a pink-red, then to a cream. It is best to prune out any reversion after the spring flush. When you do this, secondary growth during the summer displays quite a bit of variegation. 'Taimen nishiki' means "Variegation of the Ming Dynasty". 'Taimen nishiki' may reach 8-10 ft in 15 years. Fall color is a bright scarlet red.
Limited Quantities Available !! As we have over a thousand cultivars of Japanese maples, we often do not have many of each cultivar. We recommend that you buy the Japanese maples you want immediately as we often sell out of certain selections.
