'Red Flamingo' was found as variegated sport on 'Silver Cardinal'.  The new growth on 'Red Flamingo' has pink and red variegation on green leaves. 'Red Flamingo' may reach 9-12 ft in 10 years. 'Red Flamingo' was found by W.J. Hoofman Nurseries in Holland. Originally, 'Red Flamingo' was classified as an Acer conspicuum x but now is considered Acer rubescens by most experts.
