Acer palmatum dissectum 'Chantilly Lace'
Chantilly Lace Dwarf Weeping Japanese Maple

Zones 5-9

'Chantilly Lace' is a spectacular weeping laceleaf by our good friend in Pennsylvania, Billy Schwartz.  'Chantilly Lace' emerges in the spring with orange-red to peach-red new growth. The leaves are more heavily dissected adding an extra elegance to the overall texture of the tree. During the summer, the leaves mature to a chartreuse green giving a great platform for the pink-red new growth. This two-tone effect is eye catching, making this an excellent focal point planting. Fall color is reportedly golden yellow according to Vertrees 4th edition, but my experience has shown 'Chantilly Lace' to be a fiery red to fuchsia red in the autumn. 'Chantilly Lace' may reach 5-6 ft tall and wide in 10 years with an overall cascading and exceptional habit. This selection has been a great performer in our display garden at Hill Stone Arboretum, handling hot afternoon sun like a champ in East Flat Rock, NC. You can see this specimen in the 2017 Fall Issue of Country Gardens Magazine when they did a photoshoot at our nursery.

Trees were potted from large liners to gallons in this spring and may not have completely filled out their pots.
