'Schirrmann's Nordlicht' is a dwarf selection that will reach 4-6 ft in 15 years. The bright creamy foliage on this dawn redwood is spectacular. Its compact habit is ideal for small spaces.  During the winter, this deciduous conifer displays the dark red bark that gives the species its name.

This dawn redwood was found by Mr. Schirrmann in Germany as a chance witches' broom mutation on a variegated dawn redwood called 'White Spot'. This cultivar was introduced into the nursery trade by our friend, Henk van Kempen. The term "Nordlicht" translates as "Nothern Light". Winner of the 2015, American Conifer Society Conifer of the year, 'Schirrmann's Nordlicht' is an excellent dawn redwood to add to your garden. Everyone should be growing this tree in their garden.
