Rohdea japonica, known as Japanese Sacred Lily are amazing! Matt and I have gotten the bug for collecting these unusual plants. Known in Japan as Omoto, these plants have festivals, plant shows, and competitions for the different selections. They are a shade perennial that divides like a hosta, but they are evergreen. Some even use these as indoor plants or bonsai. During the winter months, omoto get red berries that add extra appeal to the winter garden.

'Miyako no jo' is a variegated selection of Japanese sacred lily that has a nice upright habit. The green leaves of 'Miyako no jo' are bordered in a creamy white. This gives quite a classy look for an evergreen perennial.
