'O Yashima'

Dwarf Flowering Quince

Zones 5-9

The O Yashima Flowering Quince is a compact deciduous shrub known for its dense growth and rounded shape, adorned with glossy, dark green leaves on prickly stems that retain their color through fall. Its large semi-double flowers emerge green and transition to white with yellow stamens, attracting butterflies abundantly from late winter to spring. Thriving in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil, this variety can reach heights and widths of 4-5 ft within a decade. Once established, it exhibits drought tolerance, adding to its resilience.

rare white double flowering quince

This is a great addition to the flowering quinces. Very easy care - full sun to part shade. The flowering period often extends beyond winter. Blooming continues well into spring, with occasionalflowers in summer and fall.
Tough plant. Longlived. Makes a nice addition to shrub border, specimen planting and foundation, wall, fence planting areas.
In cold winter areas, late winter flowering provides much needed flowers n the garden. excellent for cuts in a vase as well.
Double white cv is very uncommon among the quinces.
