Sometimes thought of a cedar, sometimes thought of as a cypress, this Japanese species is actually in a category of its own. Known as Asunaro in Japan, Thujopsis dolabrata has some of the most beautiful foliage of any conifer. One side of this evergreen foliage has the appearance of green scales lined thickly in rows that become brighter yellow as it reaches the tips. On the opposite side of the foliage is white to silver.
Thujopsis dolabrata starts out in a dense manner at an early age before a central leader arises eventually creating a pyramidal shape reaching 20ft in 20 years. This extremely rare conifer actually prefers moist shaded habitats. Here is your chance to get an extremely rare conifer for your yard or collection.
