'Golden Rey’ is a beautiful golden leaf selection of Chinese elm. The early spring leaves are a primrose-yellow, maturing to chartreuse yellow. This gives a great spring interest to Ulmus parviflora that is known for giving year-round interest with it’s beautiful Grey and brown flaking bark. ‘Golden Rey’ may reach up to 20 ft in height in 10 years, making it a faster growing shade tree in the landscape. ‘Golden Rey’ has shown to be heavily resistant to Dutch Elm disease. It was found by Bruce Rey as a chance seedling in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
