‘Germaine’s Gyration’ is an excellent pendulous dissectum that has an unusual twisting growth habit. This Japanese maple tree selection naturally contorts as it grows creating very intricate spirals. This unique effect is magnified by the lateral branching.
‘Germaine’s Gyration’ has a larger leaf than most laceleaf Japanese maples reaching 10 ft in height by 15 ft in width in 20 years. Early spring color is a light green which merges to bright shades of yellow and orange throughout the autumn months.
This Japanese maple was named after Germaine Iseli and has also been known as "Contorta" because of its unique contorting habit. Germaine's Gyration is one of the quickest growing of the cascading laceleaf types. I used to live in South Mississippi for 20 years and started me a Japanese garden there always got my trees from Mr Maple and they done great even in the heat there. I just received my Acer palmatum 'Germaine's Gyration' and couldn’t be more impressed. It arrived in excellent condition, well-packaged and healthy. Although it’s on the smaller side for a 1-gallon, the low graft and branching structure are absolutely stunning. The architecture of this tree already shows so much potential. I’m excited to see how it grows—this one is going to be special.
Planted in winter and this jewel is absolutely gorgeous. I did not know when purchasing it that the leaf color would be so colorful. Can't imagine how outstanding this tree will be as it ages.
