Pinus sylvestris ‘KBN Gold’ is a low, spreading selection of Scots pine prized for its bright golden needles that intensify in full sun. In shaded conditions, the foliage softens to green, giving it versatility in different garden exposures. Its broad, cascading habit makes it excellent for draping over slopes, banks, or rock gardens. Like most Scots pines, it thrives in full sun and well-drained soil and shows good cold hardiness. Over 10 years it typically reaches about 1 ft tall and 3 ft wide, forming a dense, mounded mat of color. This cultivar also develops richer winter gold, adding off-season interest, and is generally low-maintenance once established.
