'Summer Gold' leafs out as bright chartreuse to yellow green with a red border. The leaf on 'Summer Gold' brightens to gold as the summer progresses providing a dynamic contrast with both red and green maples. This may be one the most heat tolerant selections of the golden leaf types as this maple does not show any burn when grown in full sun in the mountains of North Carolina.

Nice size and very healthy. Instantly stands out, the gold/yellow color is so underestimated and under-represented in the garden! I have it near a royal purple smoke bush and with a night gray house siding this yellow/gold tree just pops!
Love the bright gold foliage with red boarders on the tree. For a 1 gallon, the tree is very dense and attractive. It gets full sun from 7:30 am- 2:30 pm in a container and handles it well so far. I plant to plant it in the ground in a few years to contrast with a tricolor beech in our yard. Would definitely recommend this tree to anyone looking for yellow in their landscape!
