'Katsura hime' is a very recent import from Japan that has never been released to the public in the United States. For those maple collectors with Yano's Book for Maples, they can find this selection in there. Everyone loves the spring yellow and orange colors of the 'Katsura' Japanese maple. 'Katsura hime' puts 'Katsura' to shame. The yellows, oranges, and reds in the spring are much brighter and more intense and hold on for about a week longer than 'Katsura' in similar conditions. The fall color is bright oranges to red. This selection is slightly smaller than 'Katsura' reaching 8ft in 10 years making it a great tree for a small landscape.
