Acer palmatum 'Manyo no sato'
Chartreuse Variegated
Japanese Maple

Zones 5-9

'Manyo no sato' is an introduction of Japanese maple that was introduced in Japan in 1993 and made popular by Yutaka Tunaka at Tsukasa Maple in Tokyo-to. It is a photographer's delight to photograph this beauty and I'm sure it will be your most popular photos on Instagram. 'Manyo no sato' leafs out in the early spring as a darker purple red with chartreuse variegation. The purple red color fades to a mauve red, then to a green in full sun during the summer in the south. 'Manyo no sato' turns to bright orange to red in the autumn. 'Manyo no sato' means "The Village of a 1,000 Leafs". 'Manyo no sato' may reach 8 ft tall by 6 ft wide in 10 years. Better act fast before they are gone!

Love it right out of the box

I don't typically write reviews about recent purchases because I think it takes 3 growing seasons to evaluate a 1-gallon plant. I am making an exception for the Manyo no sato that I recently received. When I opened the box, I was immediately struck by its unique colors and variegation. I think this one is going to be a favorite!

Manyo review..

Plant arrived last month in excellent condition. Was past its Spring beauty, but an outstanding, healthy plant.
I potted up to a larger pot, 3 weeks after receiving...kept him out of direct sun, and will introduce the sun soon.
Moving forward, I will move-up my maples in the fall. They had barely growing into the 1 gal they arrives in... Ball was still in the shape of a liner.
