‘Red Dragon’ is a very hardy weeping Red Japanese maple. This Japanese maple cultivar is known in the trade to hold its red color extremely well even late in hot summers. The Red Dragon Japanese Maple is a deep maroon to burgundy throughout the summer and turns to a bright red in the fall. It has a beautiful dissected leaf with predominant bottom lobes that give it is dragon horns look. ‘Red Dragon’ stays relatively small at around 4-5 feet in 10 years. This Japanese maple tree performs well in sun or shade. The Red Dragon Japanese Maple is an excellent tree for a potted container on a porch or patio and brings amazing color to any yard it is planted in.

The Red Dragon dwarf weeping maple arrived looking healthy and moist in its pot and I was surprised because it took a whole week for it to arrive but it did arrive intact. It’s winter and the tree is dormant so we will have to see sometime in spring how it leafs out. Customer service is extremely responsive and I would purchase from them again.
This a replacement Red Dragon for a previous one that was damaged by deer. The original one may grow for the damage has changed the shape of the sapling.
Love the trees I have purchased. This one came a little late to plant outdoors. I did order it late. I read should not plant outdoors in NY within 30 days of frost. It’s December so I decided I will keep it indoors till spring.

I wanted a good specimen for a container. This one will become exactly what I wanted. It will planted in a nice container in the spring and join several other Japanese maples in a display garden.
