'Bronze Age' is an upright Japanese maple with a special bronze colored growth that is eye-catching. In a house full of Japanese maples, the section of 'Bronze Age' have demanded a lot of attention this summer, with bronze colored new growth over top of a darker green leaf. Found and introduced by Talon Buchholz, 'Bronze Age' may actually be a hybrid with a full moon Japanese maple and Acer palmatum. It is expected that 'Bronze Age' may reach 8-10 ft in 10 years. Fall color is quite variable and can range from yellow to orange to red.

Zone 8A Atlanta. Part sun, acidic clay soil, amended with pine bark soil conditioner, planted 1 inch above grade and mulched.
Received this tree with a broken central leader, it wasn’t Mr. Maple’s fault, looked like the Fed-Ex driver ran it 35 yards through the UGA defensive line and spiked it in the end zone. So I didn’t have much hope for it. Planted it under a large Red Maple circa 1950s and kind of ignored it. Well, it took off like my co-worker Kyle when the lunch check shows up. Guess the broken leader promoted density and vigor. I really like this tree.
