Acer sieboldianum 'Shoryu-no-tsume' is a brand new cold tolerant full moon maple with a uniquely shaped leaf. "Shoryu-no-tsume' means "claw of the dragon" which is an excellent and fitting description. The green foliage turns to a brilliant shade of red in the fall. We expect 'Shoryu-no-tsume' to reach 10-12 ft in 15 years.

Unique tree!

This tree really stands out from other JMs, and it is a resilient grower (but not a fast grower). So far it is sturdy enough to thrive in sun or shade with no burning. I have mine in 9am-2pm sun in zone 7B. If you want something to contrast with a more common palmatum leaf types, this is a great option. I get a lot of comments and questions about it, and it's great for colder climates. Special tree in spring and fall - often makes top 5 lists.

I love the leaf shape and structure of this maple. It's quite different from other maples. I also love the vibrant spring color. When I really live a particular maple, I'll usually order more. I'm hooked 😉

Loved it, ordered another!!!

I received this one a week or so ago and I liked it so well that I ordered another! I really like the unique claw like leaf shape and no one around has one like this. Most of my maples I like best in spring and early summer before it gets so hot. I also like the height of it as I tend to like upright maples at least in the mid range. I can't wait to see the color in the spring. This one was a nice size one gallon too. My second one is arriving today...so glad I got this beauty. Thanks guys. You are the bomb.😊
