Acer palmatum 'Ukigumo'

Ukigumo "Floating Clouds" Japanese Maple

Zones 5-9

'Ukigumo' is a gorgeous upright Japanese maple. Once out of every two or three years, 'Ukigumo' leafs out with spectacular white variegation that covers the leaf. This variegation is environmental and is conditional year to year. Protection from the hot afternoon sun helps a lot with retaining the variegation for the longest amount of time throughout the growing season.  One great thing about this maple, it always has a bright golden yellow to orange fall color.

Limited Quantities Available !! As we have over a thousand cultivars of Japanese maples, we often do not have many of each cultivar. We recommend that you buy the Japanese maples you want immediately as we often sell out of certain selections.

Ukigumo

The order was filled quickly and the tree arrived in a couple days! Upon opening the box I was surprised to see how big it was compared to the box, almost folded in half! Once unpacked and watered it rebounded quickly. Very happy to finally get a Ukigumo and can't wait till springtime! Thanks!

Best place to buy Maple trees

We have purchased several Japanese Maples from Mr. Maple. Good size, healthy and exactly what was described. Looking forward to seeing it grow!

I have wanted one of these for about six years. Finally jumped on it. Delivered quickly. It was in great shape, zero broken branches, delivered upside down. Fortunately I was home to get that corrected. It even had new pink growth on the ends of a couple branches. Even the green leaves are a really great dark green with an awesome shape. Very excited and very very happy. This is my sixth tree from you guys. Soon there is to be a seventh. If I lived closer to your nursery, I'd have to enter to a 12 step program for whats becoming a slight addiction. You guys rock!!!!

It’s… green.

I live in Richmond, VA and I’m gonna plant this Ukigumo in the shade and hope for the best. I was hoping to fill a space that gets dappled light throughout the day with something interesting. I watched Matt and Tim’s vid on this cultivar and it’s not uncommon to get green leaves with no trace of white some years. Regardless, it arrived healthy and full and is even putting a summer flush on, so no complaints.
