'Gregory Bald 11-2'

Gregory Bald is special spot in Cades Cove, TN, that is admired by many native azalea connoisseurs. The environment there is special because so many native species can be found there. This created a natural God-created breeding ground for native azalea that is rich in diversity. The Azalea Society and native plant enthusiasts became so excited about this area that it resulted in many plant expeditions where collections were made of the most significant plants. Each collection was numbered. ‘Gregory Bald 11-2’ is one of these special selections. The blooms can be deceiving on its color. Sometimes the bloom may appear peach toward the outside of the flower petals while the interior is a yellow-gold. This creates a natural two-tone effect early in the bloom season. From a distance the bloom on ‘Gregory Bald 11-2’ may appear more peach in color. ‘Gregory Bald 11-2’ may reach 6 ft in height by 4 ft in width in 10 years. Give ‘Gregory Bald 11-2’ good drainage and plenty of organic matter when planting.
