Rhododendron austrinum is a native Florida flame azalea, that is native to Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Mississippi. It is exceptionally heat and humidity tolerant, which makes it a great azalea for the south. Our Rhododendron austrinum have a nice golden yellow to orange bloom that is quite fragrant. In 10 years, this Florida Flame Azalea may reach 6 ft in height by 4 ft in width with a multi-stemmed habit. Being an native plant, this is a great pollinator for bees and butterflies while also giving a great ornamental appeal in the landscape. Make sure to give this native azalea good drainage and a good rich organic based soil for this plant to thrive.
