Acer palmatum dissectum 'Waterfall'

Weeping Green Laceleaf Japanese Maple

Zones 5-9

'Waterfall' is a great weeping green laceleaf Japanese maple with a show in the fall. This Japanese maple tree is very heat tolerant and can grow in either sun or shade conditions. 'Waterfall' has very pendulous and its cascading look that gives it its name. The leaf is slightly larger than many other green dissectums. This tree can grow slightly wider than it does tall reaching 5 ft in height by 6 ft in width in 10 years. The ‘Waterfall’ Japanese maple makes an excellent large potted patio tree but can also be used as specimen plant in any landscape. The spring color is a bright almost neon green and the fall color ranges from yellow to gold.

After years of observation, we believe ‘Waterfall’ and ‘Viridis’ to now be the exact same cultivar in the nursery trade today. The original ‘Waterfall’ was likely a ‘Viridis’ that happened to be at waterfall at a state park in New Jersey. We still sell both cultivars as both are popular names people know this selection by.

Limited Quantities Available !! As we have over a thousand cultivars of Japanese maples, we often do not have many of each cultivar. We recommend that you buy the Japanese maples you want immediately as we often sell out of certain selections.

Happy first time customer!

We bought 3 trees- Waterfall, Fireglow, and Mikawa Yatsabusa. All were 1 gallon and much bigger than expected. We were so pleased we ordered 5 more 😆

Things are looking good

Since it is still winter here in Northern California, it’s too soon to tell how the little tree will do, It looks as if leaf buds are starting to swell along all the branches which is a good sign. The tree’s bare branches have a pretty shape so I’m looking forward to the leafing out and years of pleasure.
