I purchased my 1st Firefly Japanese maple a couple of weeks ago. This was my second purchase from Mr. Maple.com. I have really enjoyed watching this tree develop over the past couple of weeks with all of the new explosions of colors popping up & the changes of colors on the existing leaves. I was really hoping I could upload photos and a video that I took to share with everyone so you can actually see what I'm talking about. There is currently a variety of leaf sizes, shapes, and colors happening on this lovely tree: leaves a pretty shade of green with white reticulation; leaves a pretty pink color with deep to bright green eyes, outer edge & reticulation; leaves that look like little flames - a medium yellow or lime green with dark pink edge; larger versions of these leaves that have a beautiful mixture of colors with a bright lime reticulation; smaller solid green leaves which don't really show reticulation but have deep red coloring around the edges; bright lime green leaves again that don't show reticulation but have the deep red to pink coloring around the edges. I liked it so much, I purchased 2 more about a week ago, 1 for me and 1 for a friend's special birthday they have coming up. All three were one gallon size. The one I purchased alone was a much larger specimen, and based on the trunk sizes, a little older, than the two I purchased together. I'm guessing that's because they boxed the two together to save me on shipping and therefore went with smaller trees.

The 1 gal in June of 2023 are young smaller plants but are in great health. I can tell the one I received is going to do fantastic! Thanks again!!

They speak so highly of this tree, but there aren't enough words to describe this beauty! There aren't enough pictures to capture the beauty! This tree is the show boat of all my maples! In the podcast 50 top variegated maples they listed Firefly as # 1! All the other maples I have are there to compare and make this one stand out. Everyone needs Firefly in their collection. If I could only have 1 tree this is it!

I have this tree in Zone 7a with Morning Sun and late day shade.
It Flushes out in the spring with outstanding reticulated yellow leaves with bright red edges. This tree shows different shades in different conditions. It has changed shades frequently throughout the year. I dont have multiples of tge same cultivars but this one I have 3!
