ACER PALMATUM 'MURE HIBARI'

FLOCK OF SKYLARKS 'MURE HIBARI' JAPANESE MAPLE

ZONES 5-9

'Mure hibari' is an old cultivar of Japanese maple listing in Japanese literature as early as 1882. The leaves are deeply cut for an upright tree with a strong growth habit. 'Mure hibari' leafs out in the spring with a red to bronze edging on the deeply cut green leaves. During the summer the leaves are green, turning to a bright red in the fall. 'Mure hibari' may reach 15 ft in 10 years.

'Mure hibari' is a fairly heat tolerant selection handling full sun easily in Zone 8. 'Mure hibari' is sometimes spelled 'Mure hibare'. Our 'Mure hibari' was grafted off a tree that was imported in from Kobayashi Momiji En in Japan in December of 1976. 'Mure hibari' translates as "flock of skylarks".
