'Purple Thunder' is a newer selection of shirasawanum hybrid that was selected by Talon Buchholz for its dark foliage that cup downward. 'Purple Thunder' turns to a bright fiery red in the fall. 'Purple Thunder' is new, but we expect 'Purple Thunder' to reach 12-15 ft in height in 10 years.
