Sciadopitys verticillata ‘Jeddeloh Compact’ is a slow-growing, compact selection of the Japanese Umbrella Pine, valued for its dense, upright habit and lustrous, dark green needles arranged in whorls that resemble the spokes of an umbrella. Unlike the taller, more tree-like species, ‘Jeddeloh Compact’ maintains a smaller, more manageable size, making it ideal for smaller gardens, rockeries, or as a specimen in the landscape. After 10 years, it typically reaches about 4–5 ft tall and 2–3 ft wide, eventually forming a narrowly conical to columnar shape. Like all umbrella pines, it thrives in moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil and performs best in full sun to partial shade. Its evergreen foliage provides year-round structure and elegance, making it a distinctive choice for collectors and conifer enthusiasts.
