Acer palmatum 'Yellow Threads'

Rare Buchholz Nursery Introduction Japanese Maple

Zones 5-9

'Yellow Threads' is perhaps one of the newest selections from Buchholz Nursery. The yellow-green spring color is stunning on thin strap-like leaves. According to Talon's site, 'Yellow Threads' develops a broad canopy, but makes a nice mid-size tree reaching 8 ft in height by 6 ft in width in 10 years. Fall color doesn't disappoint with bright yellow and orange. Only a limited number of these available. Get one before they are gone!

Limited Quantities Available !! As we have over a thousand cultivars of Japanese maples, we often do not have many of each cultivar. We recommend that you buy the Japanese maples you want immediately as we often sell out of certain selections.

Another tough tree for zone 8A

Planted this one under a 30+ foot sweet gum in between some big roots where the soil is great for a good 4’ x 4’ radius because the big lug above can’t get any feeder roots to that sweet action. Yellow Threads is thriving in this part sun placement. It’s on a slope of sorts so there is good drainage. I didn’t amend the soil or fertilize because like I said it’s USDA choice dirt. A great alternative to party crasher bamboo that still delivers the aesthetic of tropical textural contrast. Fall color is pretty amazing, even in this miserable and muggy piedmont region.

Yellow Threads is a favorite

Planted this tree in spring of 2021 and it has grown up nice and full. It’s still only knee-high now, but my appreciation of it grows every year. It is my favorite in the spring, especially in the morning sun, where it has been planted in a prominent spot along the patio. Can’t wait for it to grow taller.
