Hakonechloa macra 'All Gold' Japanese Forest Grass

Hakonechloa macra ‘All Gold’ Japanese Forest Grass is a small, vibrant plant with golden-yellow leaves. It’s perfect for adding color and texture to shady garden spots and works well in containers or landscapes.

This grass grows slowly to 12-18 inches tall and wide. Its 10-inch leaves arch down, forming a dense mound. In spring and summer, it’s bright yellow in sun or partial shade, turning chartreuse in full shade. In late summer, it produces small yellowish flowers, and in fall, it changes to pink and then golden brown in winter.

'All Gold' prefers moist, well-draining loamy soils and doesn’t like dry, clay, or soggy soils. It grows well in full sun with enough moisture in cooler zones (5-9) but needs morning sun and afternoon shade in warmer areas.
