Acer palmatum x shirasawanum ‘Green River' Weeping Japanese Maple
Acer shirasawanum x palmatum 'Green River'
Weeping Laceleaf Hybrid Full Moon Japanese Maple
'Green River’ is a newer selection of weeping lace leaf by Talon Buchholz. It’s parentage is likely a hybrid with Acer palmatum and Acer shirasawanum, but since the the seeds hang downward Talon lists this new introduction as Acer palmatum. The leafs look heavily influenced by the full moon parentage as they are fairly round for such a delicately cut leaf. The habit is heavily cascading. One thing to note is that ‘Green River’ leafs out late, making it an ideal laceleaf for areas that have late frosts. ‘Green River’ has nice bronze green spring color turning to bright golden yellow for the fall. ‘Green River’ may get 3-4 ft in height and width in 10 years. Give ‘Green River’ protection from the hot afternoon sun.
Trees were potted from liners to 1 gallons in the fall and may not have completely filled out their containers.
