'Magic Moon' is a full moon Japanese maple that is green in the spring, then develops a yellow to orange variegation on the older growth. Acer shirasawanum ‘Magic Moon' was a chance seedling found by Del Louck's grandson. We traded him quite a bit of other Japanese maples to get the original 'Magic Moon'. After 8 years, 'Magic Moon' has continued to display these same characteristics of variegation that it was selected for. 'Magic Moon' turns to oranges to reds in the fall. In 10 years, 'Magic Moon' may reach 8 ft.

Was lucky enough to snag a 'Magic Moon' during a 10 @ 10 listing this past September (2024). Had it placed on hold for a later delivery, (waiting for other offerings in order to fill a box).
When that box did arrive in late October, all 3 trees were in fantastic shape, expertly packed, and all 3 were over 4 ft tall. 'Magic Moon' was still green, so will have to wait until next year to enjoy its spring-colored, curled leaves. Being a shirasawanum, gotta believe the fall color will be eye-popping!

Blessed to get Magic Moon at the Memorial Day Open House. Looks great. I hope to get it in the ground soon! It was a great event and I found other trees on my want list. Looking forward to the next open house.
