Kurume azaleas are some of the most spectacular evergreen azaleas as the blooms are small, but the bloom sets are huge . The amount of blooms often hides the leaves creating a splash of color in the landscape.  'Mildred’ is an early spring bloomer of 2 inch purple hose-in-hose blooms. The effect spring in bloom of a 10 year ‘Mildred’ is a 4ft x 4ft Purple shrub. It’s awesome.  Kurume azaleas like ‘Mildred’ make great mass plantings, especially when paired with other Kurume azaleas like ‘Snow’(white) ‘Pink Pearl’(pink) or ‘Christmas Cheer’(red).
