Juniperus procumbens 'Green Mound' is an an excellent dense evergreen that grows wide and not very tall. ‘Green Mound’ is a classic juniper traditionally used in Japanese gardening and bonsai. In the landscape ‘Green Mound’ may reach 1 ft in height by 5-6 ft in width. It is often used as an evergreen ground cover. ‘Green Mound’ is a great beginner plant to train as a bonsai. ‘Green Mound’ can easily be trained and shaped in a number of bonsai styles from a cascade, semi-cascade, shari, an informal upright, and many others. Keep in mind all ‘Green Mound’ are not currently trained as bonsai, but are in a 1 gallon container.
