'Burgundy Flush’ is a unique sweetgum in that it pushes a burgundy red flush of growth in the spring and summer on leaf that is trilobed, rather than having five points. Shade, like our greenhouse poly, washes out the burgundy color so give ‘Burgundy Flush’ plenty of sun light to get the most burgundy on the tree with each flush of growth. As the leaves mature, the leaves turn to a dark green throughout the season, later turning to a bright burgundy red in the fall. ‘Burgundy Flush’ may reach 15-18 ft in height in 10 years. ‘Burgundy Flush’ is claimed to be a seedless variety, however I believe it means that it rarely seeds.
