Great For Bonsai

'Hokkaido' is a dwarf Japanese selection of Chinese elm that is slow growing, very multi-stemmed, and has tiny green leaves. These characteristics, along corky bark, make this tree an easy item to bonsai. 'Hokkaido' has even been known under the name "Lazy Man's Bonsai" because it makes such an easy bonsai with little work. 'Hokkaido' may reach 2-3 ft in height and width in 10 years. 'Hokkaido' is easiest shaped when out of leaf in the winter.  While this makes a great bonsai plant, 'Hokkaido' is great for patio or window planters. It also makes a great addition to any small space planted in the ground as well.
