'Howell’s Dwarf Tigertail’ is a dwarf selection of Alcock’s spruce with a silver-blue appearance to the needles. New growth is a yellow green, while cones are a purple red, creating a contrast that is quite showy. ‘Howell’s Dwarf Tigertail’ has a dense pyramidal form reaching 4-5 ft in height by 6 ft in width in 10 years. Pinus bicolor ‘Howell’s Dwarf Tigertail’ spruce is sometimes listed as Pinus jezoensis ‘Howell’s Dwarf’ or Pinus alcoquiana ‘Howell’s Dwarf’.
