Picea omorika 'Aurea' is a Serbian spruce that is already one of the most elegant conifers in cultivation — a slender spire with gracefully arching branches and flat dark green needles with luminous silvery-white undersides. 'Aurea' adds seasonal drama: new growth emerges a striking golden-yellow each spring, shifting to soft chartreuse through summer before settling to pale green by winter. The effect is a living tri-color display of gold, green, and silver unlike anything else in the landscape.

A moderate grower at 6–12 inches per year, expect a mature size of around 30 feet tall by 20 feet wide, maintaining a refined narrowly conical habit throughout. Plant in full sun for the best color intensity. Hardy in Zones 4–7. Raised before 1979 in Norway and introduced to the trade by the renowned Horstmann Nurseries of Germany in the early 1980s. We expect it be around 6 feet in 10 years, but needs evaluation.
