Acer palmatum 'Scarlet Rose' leafs out as a deep maroon, maturing to an emerald green. The new growth flushes during the summer are a brighter shade of red over top of the emerald green, giving the appearance of "scarlet roses". Fall color on this new selection starts out as a bright red, turning to a deep maroon by late fall. 'Scarlet Rose' may reach up to 8-10 ft in height in 15 years.
