Syringa ‘Nadezhda’ is a beautiful fully double lilac with a bicolor effect on the blooms in mid spring. The light violet-blue blooms emerge from a deeper lilac lavender bud. Most even consider this a blue lilac. This effect is gorgeous on the double flowers. ‘Nadezhda’ was selected in Russia by Mr. Kolesnikov not only for its color, but for its extremely large blooms that cover the tree. ‘Nadezhda’ is Russian for “hope”. ‘Nadezhda’ may reach 6-8 ft in height by 5-6 ft in width in 10 years.
